Who we are
Nichola Hunter Interiors is an interior design studio based in Dublin, Ireland, working with clients across Leinster and beyond. For the purposes of data-protection law, we are the data controller of the personal information you provide to us.
What information we collect
We only collect the information we need to respond to your enquiry and provide our design services. Depending on how you contact us, this may include:
- Contact details — your name, email address, and phone number.
- Project information — details you share about your home, your project, your timeframe, and your approximate budget.
- How you found us — for example, Instagram, a referral, or a search engine.
- Correspondence — the content of emails, messages, and enquiry forms you send us.
- Website and advertising data — limited technical and analytics information when you visit our website, and the information you submit if you respond to one of our advertisements on Instagram or Facebook.
We do not knowingly collect any special categories of sensitive personal data, and we do not collect information from children.
How we collect it
- Directly from you, when you complete the enquiry form on our website, submit a lead form through our Instagram or Facebook advertising, email us, or speak with us.
- Automatically, through standard website analytics and cookies (see “Cookies and analytics” below).
Why we use your information and our legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis under GDPR |
|---|---|
| To respond to your enquiry and arrange a consultation | Taking steps at your request prior to entering a contract; our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries |
| To provide and manage our interior design services | Performance of a contract with you |
| To send you occasional updates about our work (only if you have asked us to) | Your consent, which you may withdraw at any time |
| To improve our website and understand how our advertising performs | Our legitimate interest in running and improving our business |
| To meet legal, accounting, and regulatory obligations | Compliance with a legal obligation |
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary:
- Service providers who help us run our business — for example our website host, email provider, and analytics tools — who process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements.
- Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram) — if you submit an enquiry through one of our lead-generation advertisements, your details are collected via Meta’s lead form and passed to us. Meta’s own handling of your data is governed by its privacy policy.
- Trusted contractors and suppliers involved in delivering your project, where relevant and only to the extent needed.
- Professional advisers or authorities where we are legally required to do so.
International transfers
Some of our service providers, including Meta, may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your information.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become projects — typically up to 24 months, after which they are deleted, unless you have asked to stay in touch.
- Client project records — for the duration of the project and for as long as needed afterwards to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations (generally up to 6 years).
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Have inaccurate information corrected;
- Have your information erased in certain circumstances;
- Restrict or object to how we use your information;
- Receive your information in a portable format;
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, please email hello@nicholahunterinteriors.ie. We will respond within one month.
Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help it function and to understand how visitors use it (for example, through Google Analytics). You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect how the website works.
Keeping your information secure
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data, we would welcome the chance to resolve it — please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish supervisory authority:
